Ultra ULT40010 Aluminum Hard Drive Cooler w/ heatpipes it features passive thermal heat dissipation by using fan-less operation, high-performance sintered powder heatpipes, top heat sink fins, and rubber dampers to reduce hard drive vibration and noise.

The Ultra aluminum hard drive cooler has a blue anodized aluminum finish with sinter powder heatpipes and large surface area of heatsink fins. It top mounts to the hard drive and requires two 5.25” bays. The rubber mounts eliminate almost all hard drive noise and vibration. Reduces hard drive temperature by 8-10 degrees Celsius.

Negatives for the Ultra ULT 40010 aluminum hard drive cooler are that it only fits in 5.25” bays and that it requires two of them. Some cases which have removable hard drive bays and have fans that mount to those bays (example: Antec 900) will require you to drill new holes 1 1/8” to 1 ¼ “ further back to mount this hard drive cooler. If your case has a limited number of 5.25” bays and you have multiple hard drives you may want to use a different hard drive cooler.

Ultra’s ULT 40010 Aluminum hard Drive Cooler w/ Heatsinks does an excellent job of reducing hard drive heat while at the same time reducing almost all hard drive noise and vibration. If you are looking for a way to cool off your hard drives and reduce noise and vibration in your computer then the Ultra ULT 40010 should be near the top of your list.

Vantec Hard Drive Cooler HDC-502A Heatsink w/2 Fans

Vantec HD Cooler HDC-502A Heat Sink features an aluminum alloy, 100% heat dissipation, twin fans, high airflow, high performance, and easy installation to extend the live of your hard drive.

Vantec’s HDC-502A hard drive cooler has a blue anodized finish and twin fans that use sleeve bearings which run at 5000 RPM and produce a noise level of 24 dBA. This heat sink can be used in both the 3.5” and 5.25” hard drive bays. Installation is simple and straight forward (note: mounts to bottom of hard drive and requires 2 slots). Hard drive temperature reduction using the HDC-502A is 5-7 degrees Celsius.

There are a few drawbacks to Vantec’s HDC-502A Heat Sink. First, is the color which may not match your color theme in your computer. This is a minor issue and completely a personal preference. Second, is that the twin fans are small with a very high RPM which can lead to fan failure producing a very loud whine. This issue requires disconnecting the defective fan and/or replacing the fan. Third, mounting it to the hard drive in a tool-less 5.25’ bay will require some minor modifications to make it fit properly. If you are planning to mount this in a 5.25” bay that is not easily visible this may not be the unit for you.

There are solutions for issues listed above. You can paint heat sink with a high heat paint that better suits your case style/color scheme. Replace the fans with better ball-bearing fans. Modify your tool-less mounting system to allow the heat sink to fit properly.

The Vantec HDC-502A w/ twin fans does a very good job of reducing hard drive temperature with very little fan noise. Having to replace the fans occasionally is not an acceptable trade-off for this unit. No matter what the price the manufacturer should include quality fans that don’t need replacement within the life of the unit.

The 24″ Widescreen’s true high-definition compatibility—featuring 1080p support—gives you a stunningly crisp and clear visual experience. With advanced widescreen performance and true high-definition compatibility with 1080p support, you’ll experience visual media in a whole new way.

Gateway scores good marks and value with the introduction of this 24″ LCD monitor. Though we are not fans of glossy screens the reflection issue is minimal and doesn’t detract from the other qualities of this monitor.

Innovative touch menu bar on the right side of the monitor makes it easy to change the settings. Supports HD quality video, 2ms reponse time, and a 2000:1 contrast ratio make this monitor flexible for gaming and watching the occasional movie. Has features like Picture-In-Picture (PIP) support. Also one of the few monitors on the market that support Portrait mode that allows you to turn the screen on it’s side and use it to view full pages in programs and websites.

This monitor has an excellent price right now and is great for gaming. Customers who have bought this monitor report no real disappointment.
